Bowen, Mitchell to Address Issues Facing TX House District 129 at i45NOW Forum For the first time in 14 years, someone other than Dennis Paul will be the state representative for Texas House District 129. Paul, first elected in 2012, is running for the state senate. With that, two Republicans and a Democrat are seeking votes to join the Texas Legislature. Former Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership CEO Bob Mitchell and energy engineer and former Clear Creek ISD School Board Trustee Scott Bowen are seeking the GOP nomination for the November election. The winner faces Democrat Albert Wittliff in the November general election. Both agreed to take part in an i45NOW candidates forum to be held on February 4 on the campus of the University of Houston Clear Lake. House District 129 includes the Harris County communities of Webster, Seabrook, Nassau Bay, El Lago, Taylor Lake Village, Shoreacres, and portions of Pasadena, La Porte, Pearland, Friendswood, and the Clear Lake area of Houston. The district includes NASA’s Johnson Space Center, joint military operations at Ellington Airport, oil and gas facilities, the Port of Houston’s Bayport Container Terminal, five school districts, and one of the country’s largest recreational boating communities. Bowen and Mitchell will share their views on the major issues facing the district and the state of Texas during the forum. While voters may attend in person, the forum will be available via live stream on i45NOW. Some of the topics to be discussed include property taxes, school funding, homeowners’ and windstorm insurance, immigration, roadway and highway infrastructure, storm surge protection, commercial space, and the state of politics in Texas. Voters can submit questions for the candidates by filling out the i45NOW forum questionnaire: https://form.jotform.com/i45NOW/SH129GOPForum The deadline to submit questions is noon Feb. 4.
