HCA Houston Clear Lake Opens Childcare Center to Support Working Parents HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake has opened a new on-site childcare center for its employees to address the rising costs of childcare. The center, a partnership with Bright Horizons, offers discounted rates and extended hours from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., accommodating the schedules of hospital staff who often work 12-hour shifts. "This is a milestone," said Todd Caliva, CEO of HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake, emphasizing the company's commitment to adding value for its employees. He highlighted that the center aims to provide a "safe place to learn" with a focus on early childhood education. The facility, with a capacity for 120 children, also plans to offer after-school care. The opening comes as childcare costs have increased significantly in recent years. In Texas, annual childcare costs average $9,300 per child, a nearly 10% annual increase since 2019. Devin Lukachik, a speech and language pathologist at the hospital, expressed his appreciation for the center's focus on child development, calling it "well thought out and driven by theory and by research." The on-site center is part of a broader pilot program by HCA Healthcare to see if such facilities improve employee satisfaction and reduce turnover. "I believe that we're gonna show a lot of value for our employees and for our physicians," Caliva added.
