Disabled woman killed in Dickinson mobile home fire A disabled woman was trapped in her burning mobile home Tuesday (8/12/2025) and died, Dickinson Volunteer Fire Department Chief Keith Morgan confirmed. The fire department received the call of a burning mobile home with someone possibly trapped inside at about 9:40 PM at the Turtle Creek Crossing mobile home park at 2815 California Avenue. When the first fire truck arrived at about 9:50 PM, Morgan said three-quarters of the mobile home was engulfed in flames. Neighbors told firefighters they thought the woman was in the back of the mobile home. So, the first water line was directed at the rear of the burning structure. Morgan said that no one was found when firefighters checked the mobile home's back area. The fire was knocked down by 9:54 PM. That's when firefighters found the woman’s body in the front area of the mobile home, Morgan said. The cause of the fatal fire is under investigation, but initial indications are that an electrical issue may have contributed to the blaze. Morgan said the woman’s family was at the scene. Her identity was not released late Tuesday, awaiting the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmation.
