Argument Between Two Men in Convenience Store Ends in Fatal Shooting in Bacliff Galveston County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating an overnight homicide that occurred inside a convenience store in Bacliff on Wednesday (8/6/2025). Chief Deputy Melencio Villarreal said two customers were inside the store at 1125 Grand Avenue/FM 646 around 1:30 a.m. when they started arguing. As the verbal altercation escalated, one man drew a gun and opened fire, hitting the other man, Villarreal said. The victim, identified as Adam Bolden, 56, was shot in the chest, Villarreal said. Bolden and the shooter, identified as Andrew Payne, 35, both went outside the store after the shooting. First responders from the sheriff’s office used their medical kits to provide initial aid to Bolden before EMS arrived. Bolden was transported by ambulance but died en route to the hospital. A handgun believed to be used in the shooting was found on the ground near the suspect’s vehicle. None of the other customers or the clerk was injured. Payne was initially charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and resisting arrest. He was taken to the Galveston County Jail, where his initial bond is set at $200,000. More charges are pending. Neighboring residents who did not want to be identified or appear on camera said the store, Meera Mexican Food and Meat Market, is a trouble spot. The store, which operates 24/7, is reportedly a hangout for people involved in drugs and other illegal activities, neighbors added. This developing story will be updated as more confirmed details become available.
