Fire destroys small grocery store in Webster strip center Two people were taken by ambulance to the local hospital following a fire at a strip center that houses a beauty salon, a local corner, a grocery store, and a stereo installation business in Webster on Thursday (7/10/2025). The fire at the strip center in the 500 block of West NASA Parkway was first reported at about 3 PM. Every available Webster fire truck responded to the blaze. Fire departments from Nassau Bay, League City, Friendswood, and Forest Bend responded to help Webster. League City also sent its Rehab 1 unit to have water, ice and cooling area available as the temperature was 98 degrees. The fire appeared to have started at the Varidades Santa Rosa grocery store in the middle of the strip center. Two people were loaded into ambulances and taken to the nearby HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake Medical Center. Battalion Chief Anthony Pearson with Webster Fire Department said their injuries were minor, and they could be seen walking and talking before transport. West NASA Parkway was closed in both directions from Walnut Street to Texas Avenue. This developing story will be updated as more confirmed information becomes available.
