Garage fire in Nassau Bay likely sparked by Tesla charger The Nassau Bay Volunteer Fire Department, assisted by three other departments, quickly extinguished a garage fire on Tuesday morning (6/10/2025). Officials said that a charging station in the garage had likely started the fire for a Tesla electric vehicle. No one was hurt in the fire that was contained to the garage. Webster, Seabrook, and League City volunteer fire departments assisted Nassau Bay. The multiagency response was due to high temperatures and concern that the fire would ignite the Tesla battery. Electric vehicle battery fires are a challenge to extinguish. However, the car did not appear to have any significant fire damage or damage to its exterior. Firefighters were able to drive the vehicle out of the garage under its power. Still, as a safety measure, it was to be inspected to ensure no damage was done to the battery, charging connection, or engine. Officials said the homeowner reported having installed the charging station four years ago.
