Dumped and Forgotten: 10 Dogs Found Abandoned Outside Texas City Church Authorities are investigating a troubling case of animal abandonment after 10 dogs were found outside the West Haven Church of Christ in Texas City on April 23. Animal Control responded to a call reporting the discovery of the animals, which included seven adult rat terrier mixes and three newborn puppies. The adult dogs, weighing between 10 to 15 pounds each, were confined in a dirty kennel but were not found to be in severe physical distress. “The animals were in unclean conditions, but their health doesn’t appear critical at this time,” said a spokesperson from Animal Control. The dogs are now undergoing a mandatory hold period and will be evaluated for adoption based on their health and behavior. The origin of the animals and the identity of the person or persons responsible for their abandonment remain unknown. An active investigation is underway. Monique Ryans, director of animal services, emphasized the importance of responsible rehoming. “Abandoning animals is never the solution,” she said. “There are always proper channels available through shelters and rescue organizations.” Officials urge anyone with information about the incident to contact Texas City Animal Control. Texas City Police Department 409-643-5720 Any information to help find out who is responsible for the dumping of this family of 10 please call. Under no circumstances should animal be dumped and uncared for.
