Galveston Causeway inbound closed due to crash UPDATE: 10:55 PM ROADWAY REOPENED Drivers are advised to avoid the southbound Galveston Causeway because it is completely gridlocked due to a crash. Captain Xavier Hancock of Galveston Police Department advised that debris is covering all 4 lanes, and crews are working to get lanes open to relieve traffic. The Galveston County Sheriff's Office, and Tiki Island Fire Department are directing traffic off of the highway at the Bayou Vista exit onto the feeder road. The crash occurred when a driver struck the center wall of the freeway, causing them to hit another vehicle. One driver was transported by EMS in unknown condition, however they are alive. No charges were issued related to the crash.
