For nearly three months, the 25-story-tall bright yellow arch of a heavy-lift salvage vessel docked along the dry docks of Gulf Copper Marine in Galveston has become a curiosity for visitors and locals alike. The one-of-a-kind, heavy-lift vessel and the largest ever built in the United States. After several weeks of undergoing repairs and maintenance, the TX-10000 was christened on Sunday (3/23/2025). Purchased by Xenos Marine, a Matt Fish and Galveston-based Teichman Group company, the TX-10000 debuted its fresh look and repairs on Sunday. The lift vessel is 297 feet long, 310 feet wide, and 250 feet tall. It has a 166-foot-wide span between its pontoons and a lift capacity of 10,000 tons (20 million pounds). In its 10 years of service, the TX-10000 has completed more than 250 offshore platform installations and recovery efforts. In 2019, the lift vessel was dispatched to the Atlantic coast near St. Simons, Georgia, to allow T&T Salvage’s recovery of the 660-foot car carrier Golden Ray that sank with a load of 4,300 vehicles.
