Accidental shooting sends 1 to hospital in San Leon At around 4:42 PM Saturday (3/22/2025) the Galveston County Sheriff's Office was called about a shooting near the intersection of 23rd Street and Broadway Street in San Leon. The shooting was deemed accidental, and found to be caused by a ricochet from a 12 gauge shotgun which went through the victim's home and struck them. The victim in the shooting was transported with non life threatening injury, and did not pursue charges against the man who shot the gun. Captain Tommy Maffei of the Galveston County Sheriff's Office said the shooting was an isolated incident and there was no threat to the public. In light of the incident Captain Maffei had some general gun safety tips for the public. "Treat any firearm as if it is loaded, point it in a safe direction at all times, and be aware of your backdrop"
