COM presidential finalists to meet the public this week The process of picking the next president of the College of the Mainland takes a significant step forward this week as three finalists will meet the community. Starting Monday (3/10/2025), the three possible replacements for retiring College of the Mainland President Warren Nichols will have the opportunity to meet the public. The finalists include current COM Executive Vice President Helen Castellanos Brewer, Dallas College Cedar Valley Campus President Joseph Seabrooks Jr., and Western Nevada College President J. Kyle Dalpe. The following are the public meeting schedules for each finalist and their bios. Each session will be held at the COM Learning Resource Center Room 131 at the Texas City Campus, 1200 Amburn Road. Monday(3/10/2025) @ 2:30 PM Dr. Joseph (Joe) Seabrooks, Jr. President of Dallas College Cedar Valley Campus in Texas. Previously, Dr. Seabrooks served as the President of Metropolitan Community College in Missouri. Dr. Seabrooks earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Interdisciplinary, Urban Leadership, and Policy Studies and Education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, an Education Specialist degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Tuesday (3/11/2025) @ 2:30 PM Dr. Helen Castellanos Brewer Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs of College of the Mainland in Texas. Previously, Dr. Brewer served as the Vice President for Student Services of the College of the Mainland in Texas. Dr. Brewer earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Education Leadership, Management, and Policy from Seton Hall University, a Master of Arts in Counseling from Trinity Washington University (formerly Trinity College), and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Maryland-College Park. Wednesday (3/12/2025) @ 2:30 PM Dr. Kyle Dalpe President of Western Nevada College in Nevada. Previously, Dr. Dalpe served as the Provost and Senior Vice President of Western Nevada College. Dr. Dalpe earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from The University of Nevada, Reno; a Master of Arts in Journalism/Speech/Political Science from the University of Texas at Tyler; and a Bachelor of Arts in Photojournalism from the University of Connecticut.
