HPD cop accused of sexual assault of stepdaughter, child porn possession gets $1 million bond Retired Houston Police Department Captain Daryn Edwards, who is accused of continuous sexual assault of his stepdaughter and possession of child pornography, was granted bail in a Galveston County Court on Tuesday. Edwards, a League City resident, was subdued as he listened to his attorney, Mike Russo, question witnesses about the now-retired HPD captain’s community standing, ethics, and whether he is a risk to the community. During the bond hearing, the prosecution announced that it had revised one charge and added another. Edwards faces possession of child pornography, sexual assault of a child, sexual performance of a child, and the new charge of continuous sexual assault of a child. Bond had already been set at $250,000 for the child porn possession, and prosecutor Adam Poole asked for $600,000 for each additional charge. Judge Rebecca Millo of the 10th District Court set bail at $250,000 for each charge, bringing the bond total to $1 million. The judge set the next court appearance for April 24.
