With favorable weather expected, Mardi Gras! Galveston is set for a second weekend of parades, live music, and family-friendly events - Full 2nd Weekend schedule located below Rochelle Salinas, public relations coordinator for Mardi Gras! Galveston, notes the celebrations will kick off Friday with Salute to Texas First Responders Day, followed by a packed Saturday featuring multiple parades and concerts. The weekend concludes with Family Gras on Sunday, offering free admission for all attendees. One of the weekend’s highlights, the Knights of Momus Grand Night Parade, has been a Saturday night tradition for years. The krewe will reveal its parade lineup Friday night before its annual celebration. The weekend’s musical acts include Cameron Sacky Band, William Clark Green, and Kevin Fowler, adding to the festivities. For those traveling from off the island, Salinas recommends taking Harborside Drive to avoid Broadway traffic. Multiple parking options are available, including secure paid lots and metered street parking, which is free after 6 p.m. The downtown entertainment district is fenced off with ticketed entry. Security remains a top priority, with a strong law enforcement presence throughout the event. Officers will be stationed along parade routes to maintain safety, especially for children collecting beads. "You’re definitely seeing law enforcement on all the corners, making sure everyone is safe," Salinas said. "I think you're going to feel really secure so that you can have a good time."
