Houston cop facing child porn charges now charged with sexual assault of a child in League City A veteran Houston Police Department Captain already jailed on child porn possession charges now faces sexual assault of a child and sexual performance of a child charges, League City police said Thursday (2/20/225). Daryn Edwards, 59, of League City, was initially charged with possession of child porn when he was arrested at his Victory Lakes subdivision house Wednesday (2/19/2025). The investigation and subsequent charges stem from a call to League City Police Detectives that came Tuesday (2/18/2025). That was followed by an interview by detectives that prompted the investigation, said Jose Ortega, the public information officer for the League City Police Department. League City Police at the time of Edwards’ arrest said more charges were possible. Early Thursday night, Judge Kathleen McCumber signed a new arrest warrant on the sexual assault of a child charges. Edwards, a 32-year veteran of the Houston Police Department, was the head of the department’s auto theft unit. The Houston Police Department confirmed that Edwards was relieved of duty pending the outcome of an internal affairs investigation. Edwards is in the Galveston county jail. Bond was denied.
