League City Police arrest Texas City man after high-speed chase A Texas City man was arrested early Friday morning following a high-speed chase that spanned multiple cities and ended in Santa Fe. League City police arrested 24-year-old Edward Dowdy after he allegedly evaded officers and unlawfully carried weapons. Dowdy faces charges of Evading Arrest with a Vehicle (with a $50,000 bond) and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon (with a $2,500 bond). The incident began around 4:50 a.m., when the Texas City Police Department (TCPD) notified League City officers of a pursuit involving a yellow Chevy Camaro driving without headlights northbound on SH 146 near FM 646. TCPD lost sight of the vehicle as it headed west on FM 517. The Dickinson Police Department briefly spotted the Camaro near FM 646 and SH 3 but also lost track of it. A short time later, League City Officer Thomas located the vehicle traveling northbound on SH 3 near League City Parkway without headlights. Thomas attempted to stop the Camaro, but the driver continued fleeing, leading officers onto Interstate 45 through Dickinson and Texas City before finally stopping in Santa Fe at Arcadia First Baptist Church on SH 6. Dowdy exited the vehicle and attempted to run but was quickly subdued after officers deployed a taser. Emergency medical personnel evaluated him at the scene before he was transported to the League City Jail. During the investigation, officers discovered and seized two handguns inside the Camaro. Authorities thanked all involved agencies for their cooperation in safely apprehending Dowdy.
