Teenage murder suspects brought back to Galveston County * Couple booked into Galveston County jail facing capital murder charges The teenage boyfriend and girlfriend charged in the murder of 61-year-old Tammy Sue King of Bacliff were booked into the Galveston County Jail on Monday (2/10/2025). Tara King, 17, and her boyfriend Uriah Ureck, 18, were captured in Laredo on Sunday and have been on the run since the death of the teen girl’s grandmother. They ae charged with capital murder in connection to the murder. Tammy King was shot, officials said. Sheriff’s investigators have not said publicly what the possible motive was in the murder of Tammy King. The couple was tracked down by the Gulf Coast Violent Offender’s Task Force “following an intensive investigation and a multi-jurisdictional manhunt,” Fullen said. “Sheriff’s office is committed to holding those accountable for violent crimes in our community. The swift apprehension of these suspects is a testament to law enforcement's hard work and coordination at every level.” It was around 11 PM on Thursday (2/6/2025) that a close friend of the woman who died called the sheriff’s office to report that she had not been in contact for several days. Chief Deputy Mel Villareal said that deputies went by the house in the 4700 block of 15th Street for a welfare check at about 1 AM on Friday (2/7/2025). That’s when the body of King was found inside the house. Because King was found alone, the sheriff’s office launched a homicide investigation, which is common in cases of unattended death. At first, detectives had little information to indicate that King's death was the result of a criminal act. Galveston County Medical Examiner John Florence, however, spent three hours on the scene and working with sheriff’s office detectives, determined foul play resulted in King's death. One piece of evidence was that the woman’s granddaughter Tara King, 17, and her boyfriend Uriah Ureck, 18, were also listed as house residents, but they could not be found, Villareal said. Officials confirmed that Tara King is Tammy King's granddaughter. The sheriff’s office issued a persons of interest notice for King and Ureck on Friday afternoon.
