Krewe of Thalasar to Honor Texas Navy and Galveston's Bicentennial Saturday, February 1 The Krewe of Thalasar, Galveston's ONLY Nautical Krewe, will lead a Second Line procession from 19th & Strand, down 20th Street, across Harborside Drive, to Pier 21 and the Texas Navy Monument where they will honor the rich nautical history within the Galveston Ship Channel. The Second Line Procession forms at the Naked Iguana Brewery at 5:50 p.m., and will step off at 6 p.m., headed for Pier 21. The Port of Galveston is the oldest port in the Gulf of Mexico west of New Orleans. From its establishment by the Congress of Mexico in 1825, to the arrival of the first Blain Kern Mardi Gras Floats in 1985, to the celebration of it's 200th Anniversary in 2025...the Krewe of Thalasar honors the past, present, and future of the Port of Galveston in it's Bicentennial Year.
