Galveston Chamber celebrates 180 years with awards, country music festival Texas' oldest chamber of commerce marked its 180th anniversary on Saturday (1/25/25) with an annual awards ceremony and a celebration of business and commerce along the Texas Coast. It was 1845 when the Republic of Texas created the chamber to manage shipping tariffs and commerce at the official port of the state in Texas. The chamber also presented its annual awards and installed new board members. The night was capped off by performances from The Powell Brothers of Houston and Fort Worth's Drake Milligan.
