Freeway shooting leads to crash, pregnant woman wounded by gunfire • Police looking for a dark-colored Cadillac sedan as the shooter’s vehicle At around 10 AM on Thursday (1/23/2025), Texas City first responders were called to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 45 northbound between FM 1764 and Holland Road. The initial information was that a car crashed into the concrete barrier in the construction zone after it had been shot at, Texas City Assistant Chief Manuel Johnson said. One of those inside the vehicle was a woman who was 6 months pregnant and was in and out of consciousness. Police confirmed she had a gunshot wound to her back. She was transported by ground ambulance to a hospital. The other person in the vehicle was uninjured and was being interviewed by police. Johnson said that witnesses to the shooting said gunfire came from a dark-colored or black Cadillac passenger car. That vehicle fled the scene after the crash. Detectives on the scene investigating the shooting confirmed the car had been struck several times by gunfire from outside the vehicle. Police did not have a detailed description of the shooter’s vehicle or an identity of the possible gunman. I-45 North was shut down northbound from FM 1765 to Hughes Road. The freeway reopened around noon.
