CenterPoint crews mobilize to mitigate power problems As high, icy winds blow snow into areas not accustomed to such inclement weather conditions, crews from CenterPoint Energy have been positioned in key areas around Galveston County to quickly mitigate any power problems caused by the winter storm. Asked what motivates these service providers to brave such harsh conditions, Ryan Duggan, Galveston Service Area Manager for CenterPoint Energy, says, “It’s a passion.” “We have a passion to serve our community,” he said. “We have a passion to serve our brothers. Those guys are here, we’re ready to get the power on. We’re your neighbors” Duggan said that 1,200 linemen have been positioned around the county. Anticipating difficulties crossing the causeway, he said that approximately 160 linemen and contractors were sent to the island yesterday and are now stationed at Moody Gardens. “And these trucks can’t stop on a dime,” he added. If motorists absolutely must be on the roads, he asks that they give service vehicles a wide berth for the sake of safety. #Snow2025
