Texas City fire crews pull stolen vehicle from water at Texas City Dike UPDATED: 12:59 PM Texas City Fire Department’s Marine Division and Texas City Police were called Tuesday (12/17/2024) morning to respond to a report of a vehicle submerged in the water at the Texas City Dike. A dark-colored vehicle was spotted at about 11:23 AM in the water near the Louis O. Schaper Boat Ramp, 700 Dike Road. Texas City Police Sgt. Jimmie Reynolds said no one was inside the sedan when it was towed from the water by a tow truck. He said the vehicle was reported to Texas City Police recently as stolen. The Nissan Altima was about 20 feet from the edge of the boat ramp. Reynolds said no one had seen the vehicle enter the water, and it was unclear how long it had been submerged. Texas City police had been near the boat ramp earlier in the day after an intoxicated caller phoned police on a domestic issue. Reynolds said police did not see the vehicle in the water on that initial call, but when tides shifted, the top of the Nissan was visible from the road. Initial indications are someone deliberately drove the vehicle into the water. Police were attempting to reach the vehicle's owner in hopes of finding out more information about how the car was stolen and ended up in the water.
