League City council candidates to address policy, taxes, development more during Sept. 30 forum Two of the League City city council candidates up for re-election in November drew opposition. Incumbents Tom Crews (Pos. 3) and Justin Hicks (Pos. 5) already political foes, are each supporting candidates opposing their council counterpart. Hicks, an oil and gas consultant, is opposed by Joe Italiano, a local CPA. Crews, also a CPA, is challenged by small business owner Scott Higginbotham. The incumbent council members, who often are at odds and have filed ethics complaints against one another, are backing the challengers to the other council member. Crews is backing Italiano is his challenge of Hicks. Likewise Hicks, and the majority of the current council members are backing Higginbogham. All four candidates have agreed to take part in an i45NOW forum on Sept. 30 at 6 PM. The forum will air live on i45NOW and i45NOW.com and can be viewed in person at the League City Council Chambers, 200 West Walker. Have questions for the candidates? League City residents may submit their policy-specific questions by 5 PM on Sept. 27.
