The League City Volunteer Fire Department will participant in the annual 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb on Saturday morning (9/14/2024) to honor the lives lost in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The event will be held from 8 AM to Noon at Clear Creek ISD Veterans Memorial Stadium, located at 2305 E. Main Street in League City. "On this day 23 years ago, many cities continue to honor the bravery, sacrifice, and resilience of those who were lost and responded," said Karrie Parada, a League City Firefighter and Public Relations Coordinator of the event. Firefighters will put on their gear and walk 110 flights, which is a tribute to the number of floors in the World Trade Center towers. "Silent words, and faces across the nation as we keep the memories alive. We will continue to keep them in our hearts forever," said Parada. "Tomorrow is not promised, but the legacy will live on." New York City lost 343 firefighters, 70 law enforcement officers and nine EMS technicians on 9-11. The public is invited to attend the event.
