Wings Over Houston Airshow to host Blue Angels and big surprises In addition to the return of the US Navy Blue Angels, several big surprises are in store for Wings Over Houston Airshow, set for October 26 and 27, 2024, at Ellington Airport. Bill Roach, the show’s executive director, made the announcement at a meeting of the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024. He said that several modern military jets are expected to be flown, and many more on display for the crowd. The YF-16 Viper is sure to amaze as its pilot demonstrates its capabilities, and such supersonic marvels as the F-22 and F-35 are always crowd pleasers. Other stars of the show are, of course, the WWII combat aircraft of the Commemorative Air Force. In addition to the world-famous Tora! Tora! Tora! Squadron and their reenactment of the attack on Pearl Harbor, attendees can expect to see such favorites as the P-51 Mustang, C-47 Skytrain, British Spitfire, German ME-109 and other venerable warbirds. There will also be aerobatic displays, and the Re/Max Skydiving Team will open the show with a “Flag Jump” to bring the Stars and Stripes to show center. In addition, there will be a special show for the physically and mentally challenged on the Friday before Airshow weekend. This show is for those persons who, because of a lifetime physical or mental condition, would have difficulty attending the Saturday and Sunday shows.
