Body of Dickinson angler found in water at Texas City Dike A Dickinson man who was found face down in the water off the base of the Texas City Dike likely drowned while wade fishing, officials said. Texas City detectives and the Galveston Medical Examiner on Thursday (8/29/2024) investigated the death of Michael Taylor, 60, of Dickinson. It was about 11:20 AM when a visitor called 911 to report finding the body near the entrance of the 5-mile-long dike. Texas City Police Lt. Brandon Shives said there was no evidence of a crime that would have resulted in Taylor’s death. Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office Lead Investigator John Florence said the cause of death was not confirmed Thursday afternoon. Still, he noted the death did not appear to be the result of a criminal act. Taylor was found in an area popular for wade fishing. He was in the water as a strong line of thunderstorms was pushing through the area.
