Disaster relief kits distributed to Galveston residents After Monday’s (7/8/2024) storm, volunteers came together to give out disaster relief kits for those in need in Galveston. A hurricane recovery event was held at St. Vincent‘s House in Galveston, Friday (7/12/2024) morning. Items like chicken, beans, vegetables, and cleaning supplies, were given to hundreds of islanders who are recovering. The Galveston County Food Bank helped the volunteers out by bringing in the mobile pantry. Paula Tibon, Executive Director of St. Vincent’s House, said about 350 cars were signed up to receive a kit. “It’s so much help because everything went bad in my fridge,” said Andrea Lee, who came through the line Friday morning. Tibon said they anticipated doing another distribution day at some point next week.
