On Saturday, Galveston County Judge Mark Henry issued a disaster declaration for the county in advance of #Beryl, which is expected to regain hurricane strength in the next 24 hours. Henry said that given the forecast anticipates 6 to 8 inches of heavy rain from late Sunday into Monday, 2 to 4 feet of storm surge, Tropical Storm-force winds are expected on Sunday ahead of landfall, with potential for Tropical Storm-force winds late Sunday or early Monday and wave heights that could reach 5 to 10 feet from Sunday night through Monday, he made the early call to issue the disaster declaration. Soon after, Acting Governor Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, added 81 counties to the state’s Hurricane Beryl Disaster Declaration as storm forecasts have shifted the expected landfall north and east of previous projections. That brings the number of Texas counties included in the state’s disaster declaration to 121.
