Trial date set for Dickinson Murder suspect; July 8 UPDATE 2:45 PM: Reset to July 8; taken into custody to spend 10 days in jail A 23-year-old Dickinson man, who was the accused shooter in a March 2022 Murder has his jury trial date for July 8. Jaron Morgan, 23, of Dickinson, was the accused gunman in the Murder of Dvonte Sutton, 21, on March 5, 2022. Friday (6/21/2024), a pre-trial conference was held in the 122nd District Court with Judge Jeth Jones. During the conference, the trial was backed up from July 1 to July 8. An order Friday morning called for Morgan to be taken into county jail custody for 10 days. The reason was not specified in the order, however it did say upon release that he would have to report for drug testing every 30 days. On March 5, at about 8:37 AM, Dickinson police responded to a call about a man who was shot in the neck at a residence in the 4700 block of 38th Street. Sutton was transported to HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake where he died. Morgan was arrested that afternoon by Dickinson PD and his bond was set at $100,000. He was indicted by a grand jury in June 2022. Morgan got out on bond on July 22, 2022 and has been out since. The trial is now set for July 8, 2024, at 9:30 AM.
