Native Citizen plants roots in Galveston Native Citizen started more than a decade ago with a pair of locations in Houston, but the company recently decided to open a store in Galveston to serve full-time residents and those who may have seasonal homes on the island. William Shoemaker, owner of Native Citizen, said the company sources its furnishings from several locations around Texas and helps customers through the interior design process "from the slab up" as the situation warrants. Native Citizen got its start with locations in the Heights and Montrose areas of Houston and earlier this year opened its third store at 2220 Post Office in Galveston. The Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Native Citizen on Wednesday (6/5/2024) Shoemaker found that many of his Houston clients had summer homes or other properties in Galveston, so he decided to expand its reach to the south.
