Galveston to welcome its first new grocery store in decades as Gordon Restaurant Market opens Tuesday Gordon Restaurant Market, which last year opened a location in League City, on Tuesday will open its location in Galveston. The opening is more than just a new business; it will also be the first grocery store in Galveston in over a decade. Gordon provides restaurant-type food that can be purchased in bulk for the island’s restaurants and hotels. So, the proximity is highly beneficial for Gordon’s and the local restaurants. The food-service distributor will serve local restaurants looking to buy in bulk while serving the public. Randall’s and Kroger each have locations on the island. Walmart and Target also have grocery sections at their island locations. Few corner grocery stores are scattered across the island, but few have fresh fruits or meats. Gordon Galveston is scheduled to open Tuesday at 2402 45th Street.
