Out Cast Charters holding an online auction to help man with blood disorder Before he became known as Sharky, Michael Marquez was a Texas A&M Galveston graduate with a single boat trying to break into the competitive charter fishing business. One of those who helped Marquez grow his company was Danny Wentz, an industry rep for Pure Fishing, a sporting goods manufacturer focusing on fishing products. “He was the guy who took an interest in me early and told his people, ‘We need this guy part of our team,’” Marquez said. As Out Cast Charters has grown to have several boats, a wedding, and a special events venue, Marquez said he has never forgotten what Wentz did for him early on. So, when his friend was hospitalized last year with double pneumonia that nearly took his life, Marquez was there for his friend. Four months after that first battle in the hospital, Wentz is again battling for his life, Marquez said. Wentz has a blood infection, once again has pneumonia, and is battling for his life in the hospital. The continuous hospitalizations have drained the family finances and brought a heap of added expenses that insurance won’t cover. While there’s a GoFundMe account, Marquez wanted to do something extra with an online auction. The winning bidder will get a 10-hour offshore fishing slam for up to 4 people aboard Sharky’s personal Out Cast Charter’s 36-foot Contender. Marquez said 100% of the funds bid will go to the Wentz family. Deadline to bid is 8 PM Sunday (3/24/2024). Only those bids made in the comment section of the fundraising post on Out Cast Charter’s Facebook page will be accepted. Click on the BID HERE button to get to the auction.
