Tex, Fun and Social hosts free special needs event A group of special needs children were invited to Tex, fun and social on Tuesday night (2/27/2024) at Mainland City Centre for an evening filled with laughter, bowling, basketball, air hockey and, of course, pizza. Alvin resident Wyona Wyche brought her son to the event and - after a bout of apprehension as mom's are known to face - watched him pilot his go kart around the course. "He was successful about 80 percent of the time," Wyche said. Wyche said upon entering Tex, Fun and Social, her son immediately headed toward the racetrack, since he had never before had the opportunity to get behind the wheel. Mainland City Centre is located at 10000 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway in Texas City. Wyche and her family have attended several inclusive events around the area and she was thankful for the opportunities these events provide. Jeffrey Demers came with his two sisters and said he was looking forward primarily to jumping and having fun with the group. He said he attended a birthday party at the event center previously. Demers and his older sister are competitive with several of the games and attractions. So, aside from the pizza, that is what Demers was looking forward to the most about the event.
