Grand jury indicts man on shooting death of woman who was in car with young son EDITOR’S CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story misidentified the gender of the child who was in car and included an incorrect photo. The errors have been fixed. A Galveston County grand jury this week indicted a man in the shooting death of a Hitchcock woman two years ago. Brent Howard, 25, is charged in the murder of Bria Lockett, who was shot to death in her car on Jan. 6, 2022. Lockett’s young son was in the car when she was gunned down. The shooting happened on Wayne Johnson Avenue in Hitchcock. Howard is already in federal custody on an unrelated gun charge. Galveston County Sheriff’s Office detectives led the investigation at the request of the Hitchcock Police Department. Galveston County Sheriff’s Office detectives said they believe another suspect is involved in the murder as well.
