Dickinson ISD Superintendent Carla Voelkel to retire After 6 years as Dickinson ISD’s Superintendent, Carla Voelkel announced that she will be retiring on June 30. Voelkel stepped into the role in 2018. She came to Dickinson ISD in 2013 as the Deputy Superintendent of Educational Services. Voelkel has 45 years under her belt in education. She told the Board of Trustees about her decision to retire at the January 16 board meeting. “I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to have served Dickinson ISD for the past eleven years,” Voelkel said. “I could not be prouder of the work we have done collaboratively to make Dickinson ISD a great place to be.” During her final months, Voelkel will work closely with the Board of Trustees to help search for a new superintendent. The goal is to complete the selection process and name a lone finalist in May. After the new superintendent is approved, Voelkel will work closely with the new superintendent to help with the transition process on July 1.
