Harris County criminal court judge arrested in Galveston charged with family assault Galveston Police on Sunday (12/31/2023) arrested Harris County 228th District Criminal Court Judge Frank Aguilar, 66, on accusations that he assaulted his girlfriend. Galveston police were called to Aguilar’s house, in the 9600 block of Teichman Road, at about 3:30 AM on the report of a domestic disturbance. Because of the holiday weekend, details of what led to the arrest were unavailable. Arrest records show that Aguilar was jailed on two charges. One was the charge of assault of a family member, and the second was the charge of failure to comply with bond conditions. It was unconfirmed Sunday, in which case the bond violation was connected. Still, Aguilar was released on a $1,500 bond for the misdemeanor family violence charge, said Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Major Kevin Walker. Walker confirmed that Sunday’s arrest was the first time Aguilar had been booked into the Galveston County Jail. Galveston Police records show officers were called to Aguilar’s Teichman Road property in May on another domestic disturbance call. Records show that a woman was arrested on Family Assault Charges. According to Harris County Court records, Aguilar - who was then a magistrate judge - was charged with assaulting a woman he was dating in April 2010; however, he was found not guilty in connection to that case. This developing story will be updated when more confirmed information becomes available.
