One dead after a single-vehicle crash after short pursuit UPDATE 7:15 AM: Crash scene cleared. All lanes of Tuscan Lakes Blvd. and SH96/League City Parkway re-open. • Second fatal crash within 6 hours in League City A 21-year-old man who reportedly led police on a brief chase before the pursuit was called off slammed his vehicle into a utility pole in League City early Sunday (11/19/2023) morning. The crash is at the intersection of state Highway 96/League City Parkway at Tuscan Lakes Blvd. Sgt Joe Cerdas of the League City Police Department said the passenger vehicle was involved in a brief pursuit with Dickinson police. Police had called off the pursuit because fog was setting in, but the suspect vehicle continued North at a high rate of speed on Tuscan Lakes. The driver tried to make a left-turn on state Highway 96 when he lost control of the vehicle at and slammed sideways into a traffic light pole. He died at the scene of the crash, Cerdas said. The crash happened at about 4 AM. Tuscan Lakes northbound at SH96 was closed. One Westbound lane of SH96 closed. Foggy conditions, use precaution driving through area. This was the second fatal crash in League City within 6-hours. League City’s crash team had just cleared a fatal crash on state Highway 3 at FM 646 that took the life of a motorcyclist.
