Galveston County Adoption Day shows family bonds come in all forms Newly formed families gathered for National Adoption Day to celebrate newly adopted children and their new families on Saturday (11/18/2023). This year’s National Adoption Day marked the first in-person event since 2019 after COVID and a subsequent fire at the Galveston County Justice Administration Building interrupted celebrations the last three years. Celebrating its 20th year in Galveston County, the family courts and district clerks office make the event into a festival. National Adoption Day is held the Saturday before Thanksgiving each year to mark a time when families come together to give thanks. As part of the 20th anniversary some special guests for the day were teens and their families who were part of past Adoption Day events.
