Remembering Savannah: Third Annual Memorial Walk/Run to Raise Awareness for Domestic Violence The staff at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery are keeping the memory of a former coworker and aspiring funeral director, Savannah Kinchen, alive through a 5K Run/Walk on the third anniversary of her death. "Join us in honoring the memory of Savannah, a beloved community member whose life was tragically cut short by domestic violence," a release from Forest Park East reads. "This year marks the third annual memorial walk/run on the anniversary of her passing, October 21, as we unite to raise awareness for domestic violence and support two vital causes: Bay Area Turning Point and the Disciple Oaks Scholarship Fund." Registration is available online and also from 7:30 to 8:30AM on the day of the event. The opening ceremony will be from 8:30 to 8:45AM, with the run immediately following. Forest Park East is located at 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster. Brock Bassett was the general manager at Forest Park East when Savannah was employed there. She was in training to become a funeral director at the time of her death. She lost her life to this violence in October 2020 at the hands of her estranged husband, Trent Paschal. In April 2021, Paschal skipped bond, sparking a nationwide manhunt. He was eventually located in December 2021, taking his own life as police closed in. Proceeds from this event will benefit two essential causes: • Bay Area Turning Point: A crisis intervention center and shelter dedicated to serving survivors of family violence and sexual assault in the Greater Bay Area. • The Savannah Scholarship at Disciple Oaks Camp and Retreat honors Savannah's memory by supporting individuals seeking personal growth and healing through the transformative experiences of Disciple Oaks Camp and Retreat.
