CCISD Cares allows community to donate to school lunch fund Clear Creek ISD recently launched a program called CCISD Cares, which allows the community to donate emergency lunch funds to support students who have a zero balance on their lunch account. CCISD Cares is a 501(c)3 organization formed by the school district to assist families with basic needs in times of crisis. Donors can choose between “Donate Now to CCISD Cares General Fund” or “Donate Now to School Lunch Fund.” Funds donated to the general fund support Clear Creek ISD families with basic needs in emergency situations, such as sudden homelessness due to an apartment fire. Clear Creek ISD also has a program in place to provide free and reduced breakfast and lunch to eligible families, said Eva deCardenas, CCISD assistant marketing director, but donations to the school lunch fund will ensure that any student who does not have lunch money is served a nutritious meal. This custom feature was added in response to community members who had voiced interest in focusing their support directly to local schools and helping children in need, she said. Families who qualify to participate in the free and reduced meal program are asked to visit www.ccisd.net/studentmeals for more information and to complete the form via SchoolCafé. Through this federal program, deCardenas said, students of enrolled families receive meals at a discounted price or at no cost based on program requirements. The cost of the meal is determined by the student’s eligibility – free, reduced or paid.
